About Us
Welcome to The Running Compass! Our story is rooted in the journey of Coach Monny and Coach Grace. We provide individualized training plans tailored to your needs, regardless of your experience level. We're dedicated to helping runners across the United States reach their full potential through affordable, personalized coaching.
Together, Coach Monny and Coach Grace combine their unique experiences to create a coaching approach that’s both personal and proven. We’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Ken Grace is a nationally respected track & field coach, educator, and administrator with more than 40 years of experience at the high school, collegiate, national, and international levels. He was honored as a 2019 Coaches Legacy Awardee for his lifelong contributions to coaching and coach education.
Ken has held leadership and coaching roles at Chabot College, City College of San Francisco, Las Positas College, and Dublin High School, serving as a coach, kinesiology instructor, department chair, and dean of athletics. His athletes have included national champions, Olympic Trials qualifiers, and a U.S. National Team member.
A longtime USA Track & Field Level I Lead Instructor and Level II certified coach, Ken co-founded the USATF Level 1 Coaches School at Chabot College, helping educate more than 1,200 coaches. He has also served in operational roles at the Olympic Games and multiple U.S. Olympic Trials, and has led international coaching clinics for the Guatemalan Olympic Committee.
Monny Singh began as a dedicated pole vaulter in high school and college. During grad school, he worked to build his endurance from 20-minute jogs to running half marathons, eventually achieving a 1:25 half marathon time with Coach Grace’s guidance. Monny also holds a PhD in chemistry, and he applies the same scientific methods he used in his research to his training philosophy. By blending analytical approaches with personal experience, he’s crafted a style that’s both evidence-based and deeply personalized.

At The Running Compass, every training plan is uniquely crafted around you — your goals, your fitness level, and your pace of progress.
How It Works
We start by learning about your short-term and long-term goals.
Then, through a quick questionnaire, we gather key details about your current fitness level, running background, and weekly routine.
From there, we design a plan that fits your lifestyle and helps you progress safely and efficiently.
Each training cycle runs in 4- to 6-week blocks.
After each block, we review your results, analyze your feedback, and adjust your next phase to keep you moving forward.
